We have a quick two-fer for you with Episode 131 of The BibRave Podcast. A big thank you to our sponsor this week, Foot Levelers Blue Ridge Marathon! Race “America’s Toughest Road Race” on April 13th in Roanoke, VA, and save 20% with code “BLUERIDGEBIBRAVE”.

First, Tim and Jess give a quick recap of the BATH. Then they hop into the meat of the episode which is a fascinating conversation with Dr. Zack McCormick on regenerative medicine. You may remember Zack from Episode 110 of The BibRave Podcast, and is a long-time friend of the BibRave crew. He has spent time specializing in Orthopaedic Surgery and Sports Medicine, and currently is an Assistant Professor and Clinical Spine Research Director at the University of Utah.

The trio discuss some current trends in regenerative medicine - including PRP (platelet-rich plasma) and stem cells - and instances where runners or endurance athletes may consider these treatments as alternatives to cortisone injections. We hear all about the pros and cons, FDA regulations or lack thereof, and who should consider this type of treatment. It’s a fascinating topic - you’ll definitely need your thinking caps.

Episode #110: Is Running Bad for Your Knees?
